2nd thru 4th GRADE GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

Goal: To empower each student with the skills to be a productive Christian citizen 

SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT

  1. Devotion – Prayer – Prayer Requests – To learn to think of others and situations in the world  

                         Pledges - Conducted daily to the U.S. Flag, the Christian Flag, and the

Bible Scripture – 1 Scripture passage approximately every week 

2.   Bible Study -  Daily study of Bible Stories

STUDENT SAFETY

  1. Student emergency information on file in classroom.
  2. Allergy statement posted in classroom.
  3. No child will be left unattended at anytime.
  4. Student will participate in Fire, Tornado, and Hurricane Drill conducted by the school.
  5. Students arriving after 7:45 will need to be signed in by parents.  Students leaving before 2:30 will need to sign out. 
  6. Students will remain in the classroom until picked up by authorized person.

SECOND GRADE CURRICULUM   

   1.   Language Arts – Review phonics and increase fluency in reading
    Review initial blends
    What a consonant letter is and what it does in a word 
    Name different type of letters
    Review vowel sounds

    2.  Math –       Read and write numbers to 100.
    Review money- dollars, cents and coins
    Addition and Subtraction facts to 18
    Place value for ones, tens and hundreds 
    Review the operation symbols         
    Write fact families solve story problems in addition
    Recognize flat shapes 

    3.  Spelling/Vocabulary – New words introduced each week 

 4.  Science – Living objects and why they are living
Nonliving objects and why thy are nonliving
Man-made objects

5.      Social Studies – Relationships – Family, Community, Church

                                 Discuss who is in God’s Family

                                 Discuss and learn how to become part of God’s Family      
 

FOURTH GRADE CURRICULUM 

1.      Language Arts – Discuss and learn how to select the main idea of a paragraph

                                  and a story

                                  Learn to recognizes and give details of a story

                                  Put events of a story in the order in which they happened
                                  learn how to write a simple outline

                                  Define words by the way they are used in a sentence

                                  Tell the moral lesson of a story 

                                  Write reports and define new words 

2.      Math -    Place value to 1,000’s

                     Addition and Subs traction

                     Review multiplication and Family of Facts

                     Learn to recognizes different types of Patterns

                     Recognizes and write Cardinal and Ordinal Numbers 

                     Read and Write Fractions  

                     Review dollars, cents, and coins      

3.   Science -   Learn why plants are living things  

                      Learn how some plants are used

                      Discuss and learn the different parts of a plant

                      Discuss and how different parts of a plant work together 

4.   Social Studies – Identify and describe the continents and ocean

                       Review direction north, south, east, and west on a map 

                       Learn to use a map key

                       Discuss why Europeans began exploring the earth 

       5.   Spelling/Vocabulary - New words introduced each week      

Goal: To meet the needs of the individual student by using Alpha Omega        Curriculum, Whole Language, School of Tomorrow and other educational resources
