New Life Christian Academy pre-kindergarten program offers ACE Reading Readiness Program, which is a phonics based curriculum the introduces 35 alphabet sounds over the school year.  A different alphabet is featured each week, to include the sound it makes, what it looks like and the shape and form of it. 
We include science lessons, that include the animal of the week and how all things are created by God for us.
Social Studies focuses on relationships from family, to the community helpers. 
Math is also an integral part of our program.  Numbers are introduced from 1-100.  We practice counting and number recognition.  There is also sorting, matching and manipulation.

We operate under North Carolina law GS110, that allows us to offer an academic based curriculum.

2nd and 4th GRADE GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
FIRST QUARTER

SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT: To empower each student with the skills to be a productive Christian citizen

  1. Devotion – Prayer – Prayer Requests – To learn to think of others and situations in the world       

                         Pledges - To the US Flag, the Christian Flag, and the Bible.

                         Scripture – 1 Scripture passage approximately every week 

2.   Bible Study -   Daily study of Bible Stories

STUDENT SAFETY

  1. Student emergency information on file in classroom.
  2. Allergy statement posted in classroom.
  3. No child will be left unattended at anytime.
  4. Student will participate in Fire, Tornado, and Hurricane Drill conducted by the school.
  5. Students arriving after 7:45 will need to be signed in by parents.  Students leaving before 2:30 will need to sign out. 
  6. Students will remain in the classroom until picked up by authorized person.

2nd GRADE CURRICULUM 

Goal : To meet the needs of the individual student by using Alpha Omega Curriculum, Whole Language, School of Tomorrow and other educational resources

 Your child will be introduced to the following:
Language Arts – 

Review phonics and increase fluency in reading

Review initial blends

What a consonant letter is and what it does in a word

   2.  Math - Introduction of numbers 0-9.  Recognition of + and – symbols.  We will

         write numbers 0-9.  Count objects, sort objects, and work patterns. 

   3.  Spelling/Vocabulary – There will a list of sight words and word wall.  New words

    introduced each week.  May begin spelling words with  weekly test.   

4.      Science - The world around us – Earth, Animals, People. 

5.      Social Studies – Relationships – Family, Community, Church.

FIRST LEVEL CURRICULUM 

1.      Reading – Review Phonics and increase reading fluency. At least 4 primary

                        reading books should be complete by end of quarter. 

2.      Math -  Addition/Subtraction up to 2 columns, word problems, patterns, time,

                   Money, skip counting 2’s, 5’s, 10’s. 

3.   Science -   The world around us – Earth, Animals, People. 

4.   Social Studies – Relationships – Family, Community, Church. 

       5.   Spelling/Vocabulary - New vocabulary words each week.  Daily practice/drills,

                                                    ABC order, use in sentences, and weekly test.  First
